About the event

About the event

Experience the insight and power that a collective group brings to individual reflection and discover ways to support others in an atmosphere free of judgment, problem solving, or analysis. Dreamwork builds a bridge between the conscious and unconscious psyche, using the symbolic language of dreams to help us bring meaning and intention to our lives and relationships.

For the dream sharer, dreamwork investigates the personal unconscious in a sensitive and intentional way, with great respect for the fragility of the dream and the vulnerability of sharing. Focusing exclusively on the content of the dream allows the group to connect in a unique, respectful, and surprisingly intimate way. This is an opportunity to explore the rich inner landscape of the self beneath the surface of the reality produced by ordinary consciousness.

Here's how a dream group session might typically work:

Group Setting: A small group of individuals, guided by a facilitator(s), comes together to share and explore dreams.

Sharing Dreams: One or two dreams are shared per session. The dreamer recounts the details, feelings, and associations related to the dream.

Reflection: Group members ask questions related to the dream and the dreamer’s specific associations to the content. The focus is on gaining a deeper understanding of the dream from the dreamer's perspective.

Feedback and Discussion: The group offers feedback to the dreamer to foster insights and different viewpoints that might shed light on the dream.

Application and Integration: The dreamer reflects on the feedback provided and explores how these insights might relate to their waking life, emotions, or current concerns. The focus is on integrating these insights into personal growth and self-understanding.

About Andrew

Andrew has been a professional theater artist for the past 25 years, his set and lighting design having been seen on opera and theater stages worldwide. He is a former university professor who began his career at Williams College and then served for ten years as head of stage design at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Department of Design for Stage and Film.

Since 2018, he has focused on depth psychology, utilizing a flexible and client-centered approach in his coaching. He combines an analytic attitude, creative mindset, metaphoric exploration and dreamwork with a down-to-earth, intuitive sensibility. In alignment with the present situation, he asks questions and spurs the imagination to develop symbolic capacity, increase self-awareness, unlock potential and aid transformation. His holistic approach places particular emphasis on discovering and fostering one’s inner and outer resources, resiliency, integrity, sense of feeling and well-being. Andrew believes we are all guided by unconscious forces and one of life’s great developmental and creative tasks is to bring them into our conscious awareness.

His lived experience as a collaborator, artist, teacher, and parent allows him to attune with people of all types and at different stages of life with authenticity. He understands that a combined and mutual effort works best, guiding each client through their individual growth with specific and personalized attention. He creates an honest, trusting and supportive environment where clients feel secure in the knowledge that he has their best interests at heart.

While he is primarily interested in the underlying forces that bind together our collective humanity, he is deeply sensitive to different learning profiles and the diversity of gender, religious, racial, and cultural backgrounds, expressions, and identities.
